AUDIO/VIDEO: Since this is a hentai feature the dvd is presented in a unique way compared to live action Marc Dorcel films. It is shown in a full screen ratio. The audio can be set to Japanese, or English, but still has the mandatory French subtitles. The video quality does seem to be a little dated, but the art style that was used suggests it was created by a more recent manga artist. Overall the video, and audio quality are superb which is what I've come to expect from all Marc Dorcel dvds.

SYNOPSIS

Hentai is the most hardcore form of porn you'll ever find. The genre encompasses all sorts of taboo, and non-taboo scenarios. The genre itself originated in Japan which should be of no surprise at all since some fairly perverse things are developed over there, especially in the entertainment industry. When I requested "Night Shift Nurses" for review I was under the mistaken impression that Marc Dorcel would shy away from the truly hardcore subject matter. Unfortunately I was wrong in that respect. With that being said the dvd does stay true to the hentai formula, and features some rather impressive art. Unlike most porn produced these days this does feature a solid story. There is of course some extremely hardcore sex thrown in for good measure.

The story of "Night Shift Nurses" revolves around the twisted relationship of Kirasaka (a very sadistic doctor), and his nurse Hiraku who willingly partakes in his demented sexual "Experiments". Caught in the middle of this sordid affair is Hikaru's younger sister Ai who at first has no clue of the goings on between the two. During the film the Hirasaka, and Hikaru engage in some seriously hardcore bondage oriented sex. There is even some fetish material thrown in the mix. Throughout the films entire length Hikaru endures some fairly torturous situations. Urine, blood and fecal matter are spilled during two of the more gruesome sexual encounters, and even vomiting occurs from time to time during the film. As far as the actual sex goes it's mostly anal, but there are a few instances where positions like missionary, and a standing penetration are shown.

The plot of the film progresses as any manga, or anime feature would. The only difference is that the director chose to focus more on the hardcore sexual situations, and less on story advancement. For 30 minutes worth of film I think the director did an excellent job balancing the film's content though. There was just enough story to keep things interesting, and definitely enough hardcore sex to warrant the age warning. This version of the film (which happens to be the French one) features totally uncensored content. You'll find that in most cases porn such as hentai are often censored especially if they are from Japan. I never really understood this concept though, because westerners watch stuff that is just as perverse in nature. It could easily be said that some American, and European porn films are more hardcore in nature than that of Japan. In the end it is what it is though.

CONCLUSION

Being the anime, and manga fanatic that I am I knew what I was getting myself into when requesting the dvd for review. I'm not ignorant when it comes to knowing what hentai is all about, but I honestly didn't expect something this "Hardcore" coming from Marc Dorcel Productions. The sex in the film was so disturbing to me that I didn't really enjoy watching it. When I think of porn I don't envision vomit, crap, blood, or piss being shown. That stuff does exist in porn, but it's not something I like to watch. I don't see how someone would actually get off on watching this kind of thing. In my case it definitely didn't do anything for me. With a sad disposition I'm going to have to say skip this one. It's not something I would have expected from Marc Dorcel Productions. If the director would have went a little less hardcore it would have been alright.
