AUDIO/VIDEO:The audio in 'Orgy In Black' is very clear, and is presented in 5.1 digital surround if you choose the original French soundtrack. There are the usual voice language options that you find with most Marc Dorcel productions including an English audio track for those viewers like me. There are also a couple of subtitle options if you want to read what is being said in a foreign language. The video is presented in a widescreen ratio throughout it's entire length. The picture quality is very clear for an older release. I did get the collector's edition for review, so the original's quality will likely vary from the audio/video quality I've mentioned.

 'Orgy In Black' is an older film that most who are familiar with Marc Dorcel's productions will know of. Being the late bloomer that I am this was my first viewing of the film. I would like to begin by giving my readers a breakdown of what I saw as I watched 'Orgy In Black'. Hopefully I'll be able to make some sense out of the bizarre film in the process of doing so ...

Unlike a lot of Marc Dorcel films 'Orgy In Black' presents itself in a theatrical manner reminiscent of feature films, and old horror television shows. As I watched the odd tale of lust gone awry unfold I began to become drawn to its macabre nature. The story begins with a car sex scene involving a lovely young lass named Ursula (Daniella Rush), and an equally youthful lad named Edouard (Titof). After a lustful, and intoxicated encounter in their car the couple decides they want to try something a little risque, and head to a supposedly haunted graveyard. It was mostly Edouard's idea, but Ursula did go along with it. The pair of love birds engage in some naughty after dark sex on what appears to be some sort of large grave stone in the middle of a graveyard. After a flash of lightning the couple lay limp upon the stone slab only to find themselves abducted by a cult of the living dead.

After coming to their senses Ursula, and Edouard find themselves in the company of an amazonian looking voodoo priestess, and her undead male minions who are all dressed in gothic attire. The priestess who is played by the director 'Ovidie' informs the couple that they are dead, and that they are doomed to wander the graveyard for all eternity. In a last ditch effort the couple scrambles out of the mausoleum they wound up in and split up in hopes of finding an exit. Edouard ends up running into the priestess, and one of her minions in the process. What ensues is a threesome of creepy proportions. Without resisting Edouard ends getting his member sucked, and even participates in the double penetration of the priestess (Ovidie). After shooting his load on her pelvic region he ditches the seductress only to find that him, and his girlfriend are continually making circles around the graveyard.

In an intermission of sorts the now abandoned priestess entertains herself with the company of her erotic living female statues, and male ghouls as they fornicate in her presence. It's an odd orgy that I'll likely not forget any time soon. When the undead denizens deeds are done the film switches focus back to Edouard, and Ursula who have finally accepted the fact that they are no longer among the living. With an unusual, yet romantic rationalization on the predicament they find themselves in the couple decides to give into their carnal pleasures, and enjoy their everlasting company. As soon as their story ends another abruptly begins.

With Edouard, and Ursula momentarily out of the picture an new subject makes her presence known. As this half dressed girl runs from a pursuing vehicle towards the haunted graveyard I briefly wonder "What the fuck just happened!?". I quickly dismissed this thought, and enjoyed the following scenes for what they were. As I continued viewing the somewhat alluring tale I realized that the two gentlemen that chased the girl into the graveyard were probably trying to rape her. Lucky for her though she was able to hide while two of the priestess's female cult members entertained the perverse men. After allowing the men to practically bang the heck out of them the two girls take a bite at the mens' neck causing them to vanish into thin air. The amazonian cult girls gather up the surprisingly willing victim, and escort her to their leader. After the priestess lays her eyes on the very lovely blonde haired lass she immediately asks her "Are you sure that's what you want?". After agreeing to become one of them the girl is taken by the amazonian girls, and prepared/bathed for a ritual that needs to be performed. Following that a highly erotic lesbian scene unfolds between the priestess, and the new girl. When the pair of female lovers are through with the ritual the new girl is immediately transformed into one of the cult members. You can tell this by her oddly colored eyes when she awakes.

In an unusual fashion the film comes full circle as Ursula awakes in the car that her, and Edouard were previously in. Seeming like an alcohol induced dream Ursula shrugs the whole thing off, wakes up Edouard, and drives away as if nothing ever happened. Not long down the road Ursula stops to pick up a female hitchhiker that is thumbing for a ride. When the hitchhiker comes into view I realize she is the priestess from earlier in the movie! Still unaware of what passenger she picked up Ursula continues to drive as the eerie woman gazes out the car window. In closing the film ends just as strange as when it began.

CONCLUSION

Before beginning my review I noticed that other websites had given this film a four to five star rating. I expected so much from this film, but was ultimately letdown by it's presentation and perhaps my great expectations. I found that the plot was almost nonexistent in the film, and that it was poorly spliced together. Fortunately I was able to understand most of what was going on though. The brief moments of acting definitely helped in that area. As far as the sex goes it was okay. I can't say that I saw anything really exciting except for the sex scene with Ovidie, and Titof. The orgy scene involving the statue girls was also pretty good. Other than that the rest of the film was almost forgettable. If this film was remade on a higher budget with up to date special effects I could see it doing very well, but as it is I find it a little on the mediocre side. With that being said it's still worth a rent.

VERDICT: Rent!!!
